Why is asthma worse for women?

Women and Asthma was partially inspired by the 2022 Asthma and Lung UK report Asthma is Worse for Women.

Asthma and Lung UK say:

“Women are more likely to have asthma, have more severe symptoms, and are more likely to die from their asthma.

Many women experience a significant worsening of symptoms around menstruation and are at risk of potentially fatal asthma attacks every month. But there is very little research to understand why.”
